WHAT WE'RE ABOUT

As queer individuals, we are motivated to create an inclusive, welcoming, safe environment for climbers who are a part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

COMMITMENT TO INCLUSION

This group is founded on principles of inclusion and equity. Top OUT RVA is for ALL climbers who identify as being a member of the queer or LGBTQIA+ community. We firmly believe that the climbing community is stronger when everyone is able to participate.

This includes (but is not limited to):

- individuals of all skills levels are welcome, whether you're a V0 beginner (or don't even know what V0 means, but would like to!) or a V10 crusher.
- individuals of any gender identity; we strongly encourage our trans and non-binary community members to join us!
- individuals who are Black, Brown, Latine, Indigenous/Native, AAPI, and from other marginalized racial or ethnic groups; you are also encouraged to join.
- individuals of any body size and shape; climbing is for everyBODY!
- adults (18+) of any age; whether you are 19 or 79, climbing is for you.

- individuals of any ability; although resources are limited, we will do our best to see what accomodations can be met for people who have a disability.

No TERFS, SWERFS, racists, Nazis, etc. No hateful actions or bigotry is allowed. Any violations will result in dismissal from the group.

COMMITTMENT TO COMMUNITY

Climbing is inherently a communal sport. Even in competitions we see climbers working together to read routes and sharing beta. The best parts of climbing are about the connections we make and the ways we all work together.

The goal of this group is to build community. Whether you have been climbing for 20 years or just started yesterday, we want everyone to be able to grow and thrive in your climbing, with the support of our community.

Looking for other queer folks to climb with? You found us! Looking for friends who feel like family? Join us! Need regular climbing buddies outside of our meet-ups? Get that here. Need a belay partner? Meet them here! This space is whatever you need it to be.

LAND ACKNOWLEGEMENT

The land we climb on and benefit from daily is land stolen from the Monacan, Powhatan, and Chickahominy Tribes. These individuals are the original and true stewards of this land, and efforts should be taken to restore their land and make reparations.
